Our skin uses sunlight to make Vitamin D, which is important for absorbing calcium and promoting healthy bone growth. Australia however, has some of the highest levels of Ultra Violet (UV) rays in the world. Do you know that the skin can burn from 15 minutes of exposure to the summer sun?

Prolonged exposure to UV rays cause sun damage such as sunburn, age spots, and irregular skin cells that can lead to cancer.

UV rays account for 80% of skin aging, including wrinkles. By penetrating deep into our skin, UV rays fracture collagen and elastic fibres which then causes the skin to wrinkle and lose its elasticity.

How does Fractora work to combat sun damage?

Fractora combats sun damage by delivering radio frequency (RF) energy to the skin through an array of tiny, sterile pins in a small, brush-like device. The pins deliver a gentle localised heat to the treatment area and produce small micro-lesion dots into the skin’s sub-dermal tissue.

By delivering radio frequency energy to the skin, Fracotra kick-starts the skin’s natural repair process by removing damaged skin and promoting new collagen growth. This results in the formation of smoother, tighter, and younger looking skin, free of wrinkles and age spots. Results are usually noticeable after two weeks. Unfortunately, we can’t stop aging and so, future treatments are necessary.

Looking after your new skin

Having younger, firmer, and tighter looking skin comes with important responsibilities. You don’t want to waste all the hard work and money you invested into fixing your sun damage. Follow these steps to stay on the right track.

  • Wear sunscreen! We recommend using a good, broad-spectrum sunscreen everyday. A good sunscreen will protect you from any future risks of skin cancer. It will also help your skin remain smooth and youthful looking.
  • Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise! Hydration is very important in maintaining the health and quality of your skin. Moisturisers are full of water and can work wonders for your skin. They help the skin stay young by replenishing any water lost by your cells during the day.
  • Keep hydrated. As well as moisturising your skin, drink lots of water to keep your body hydrated. Also eat lots of fruit and vegetables high in water such as cucumber and watermelon. Your skin and your body will thank you for it.
  • Limit your sun exposure. Unfortunately, your love affair with the sun isn’t a two way street. While we associate a glowing tan with good health and beauty, high levels of sun exposure through sunbathing or tanning accelerates the aging process, and also increases your risk of developing skin cancer.
