How does it work?
The injection consists of an active ingredient called deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid occurs naturally in the body and breaks down dietary fat.
The double chin removal injection is prescription only. Therefore, it has to be prescribed by a clinician and administered by a nurse or cosmetic surgeon.
When the injection is injected below the chin, it dissolves the fat cells in the area. The good thing about fat cells is that when they die, they do not regenerate. This means once the fat is gone, it’s gone forever. You can wave goodbye to your double chin and say hello to a more contoured neck profile and jaw line!
How long does the procedure take?
The procedure takes place at Timeless Cosmetics and takes approximately 15-20 minutes.
Before administering the injection, your clinician may apply ice/cold packs or anaesthesia to the treatment area to make you feel more comfortable. They may also suggest you take an over-the-counter pain medication before your appointment.
When will I start seeing results?
Although the fat cells in the chin begin dissolving as soon as the injection is administered, you may not notice any immediate results. The fat dissolving process is a gradual one and it usually takes 4-6 weeks to see any noticeable changes. Up to 6 treatments may be administered, and they are spaced at least 4 weeks apart. Many people who undergo the procedure usually notice a visible change in their chin profile within two treatments.
There will be some swelling and bruising after each treatment, which can last up to a week. But on the plus side, recovery is much easier than an invasive cosmetic procedure such as liposuction.
Once you’re happy with the results, re-treatment is not expected. The results are permanent with good diet and exercise. However, some people find they may need a touch up in four years time.
